ROSETTA & PHILAE
Philae Scale 1:2
Rosetta – Philae 2014
The European mission studied the composition of comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko (67P) after a journey that lasted over 10 years, following the comet for a significant portion of its orbit. The mission successfully landed the Philae automatic laboratory on the comet’s surface, which provided valuable information about the nature and composition of the solar system at its birth. This research is particularly significant as it explores the possibility that comets could be carriers of life in the universe.
One of the main scientists involved in this mission was Amalia Ercoli Finzi from the Politecnico di Milano, who was also a member of the scientific committee.
