SATURN V - THE MOON ROCKET

The United States’ Saturn V rocket, designed by Wernher von Braun and his team for the Apollo lunar program, is the most powerful launch vehicle ever built and the only one to carry astronauts beyond low Earth orbit.

On April 25, 2009, Steve Eves launched a 1:10 scale model of the Saturn V in Maryland, reaching heights of over 1,000 feet before safely parachuting back to land.

• 1:10 scale: 36 ft / 11 m

• Full scale: 363 ft / 110.6 m

Mass:

• 1:10 scale: 1,648 lb / 748 kg

• Full scale: 6,200,000 lb / 2,800,000 kg

Maximum diameter:

• 1:10 scale: 3 ft / 100 cm

• Full scale: 33 ft / 10.1 m
